Liverpool Vs Chelsea, Liverpool Terlalu Digdaya

9 Nov 2012

Ya, Liverpool terlalu digdaya jika melihat catatan berikut: dalam enam pertandingan terakhir di semua kompetisi, The Reds menang lima kali, sementara The Blues menang satu kali.

Premier League preview: Liverpool vs Chelsea

7 Mei 2012

koclokindoblog, 7 Mei 2012, Liverpool and Chelsea will lock horns again in the Premier League on Tuesday three days after battling for FA Cup glory on Saturday.

The Blues won 2-1 at Wembley and the Reds will be keen to atone for missing out on becoming the first team to win a domestic cup double since Chelsea in 2007.

But if Liverpool thought they'd be done a favour by Chelsea as they prepare for their second Champions League final in five years in a fortnight, they best think again.

Sixth-placed Chelsea (61 points), with two league games to play, are five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham (66) who only have one more match left in their 2011-12 campaign against Fulham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

And if Chelsea lose the Champions League decider to Bayern Munich on May 19, then the only way they will get a chance at redemption next season is if they finish in the league's top four.

The only way they can do that is if they win their last two matches.

Newcastle (fifth), on 65 points, are sandwiched in between Tottenham and Chelsea but they also face a challenging task on the last day in the form of Everton at Goodison Park.

So where there's life there's hope for Chelsea and there will certainly be no thoughts of resting players or going easy crossing the mind of interim manager Roberto Di Matteo against Liverpool.

Capturing all three points will be the sole focus at Anfield, especially when one considers how similar the goal differences of both Tottenham (+23) and Chelsea (+21) are and how poor Newcastle's (+7) is.

And winning at Anfield has become far less daunting proposition for visiting teams with Liverpool losing four of their last eight at their former fortress.

However, ninth-placed Liverpool have motivation of their own as they try to avoid their worst finish to a Premier League campaign in 57 years.

The highest the Reds can finish this season is seventh and to have any chance of achieving that, they will have to beat Chelsea and Swansea at Liberty Stadium.

And Liverpool (49 points) will be desperate to avoid finishing lower than fierce Merseyside rivals Everton who are seventh on 53 points and play Newcastle in their final match.

Everton have not finished above the Reds since 2004-05.

Chelsea head into the match in decent league form, their 2-0 loss to Newcastle last week ending their six-match unbeaten run in the league.

But the same can't be said for Liverpool who have seven points from a possible 24 before this clash.

FA Cup preview: Liverpool vs Chelsea

4 Mei 2012

koclokindoblog, 4 Mei 2012, The managers of both Chelsea and Liverpool hope they can turn around their form before Saturday's FA Cup Final after poor mid-week defeats.

Liverpool lost 1-0 to Fulham at Anfield on Tuesday, while Chelsea went down 2-0 to visitors Newcastle on Wednesday in the English Premier League.

Liverpool's manager Kenny Dalglish slammed the players he picked against Fulham for not taking the opportunity to push for selection in Saturday's final.

Dalglish selected a second-string team with only Andy Carroll and Dirk Kuyt having a decent chance of starting against Chelsea.

The Scot was happy with Carroll, but not with the other 13 players who got game time on Tuesday.

"Their attitude was not right and if you get a bad attitude you going to get a bad performance and that is what we got," Dalglish said.

"I tried to be fair and give everyone an opportunity - maybe I was wrong."

After Wednesday's loss to Newcastle, Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo quickly switched his focus to the final of the 140-year-old competition.

Di Matteo admitted his players looked tired against Newcastle after trying to maintain a high level in three separate competitions but promised they would be ready for Saturday's final.

"We'll regroup and pick them up," Di Matteo said. "We've got a big game, a great final, on Saturday and we'll go again."

Chelsea, who also have the Champions League final to prepare for on May 19, will hope at least one of central-defensive pair David Luiz and Gary Cahill recover in time for the FA Cup Final.

Di Matteo will surely pick Didier Drogba to lead his attack as the 34-year-old striker has scored every time he has played a competitive match at Wembley and Chelsea have won all of those four games.

Liverpool are likely to rely on Luis Suarez for goals after the Uruguayan striker scored a hat-trick against Norwich on Sunday to take his season tally to 17 goals in all competitions.

Dalglish will be aiming for his third FA Cup title as a manager on Saturday (he also won it as a player in 1986), while Di Matteo could join him as one of the 16 people to have won the competition both as a player and a manager if Chelsea triumph. The former Italy international won the FA Cup in 1997 and 2000.

Despite their poor showing in the league this season, if Liverpool win on Saturday it will be the first time since 2001 they have won the FA Cup-Carling Cup double.
